MAATP students spent time last week working with Toby Jones, another major practitioner of recent years, showing some work at 4.0 on Friday. The great thing in my view about this work (short pieces derived from photographs) was that the work had presence - nearly every work having a three-dimensional sculptural quality, every detail carefully chosen, taking the time needed to make itself felt in the space.
Toby spent about an hour after the showings talking to the makers about what he'd seen and noticed in each work.
In the evening, talked to the BBC Producer Ruth Caleb who described Toby as one of the best living actors.
